LEAD Hub

CVESD's LEAD Hub program, in partnership with the San Diego County YMCA, provides free before and after school programs at all district schools. Previously known as STRETCH and DASH, LEAD Hub aims to create a safe, supportive environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. The program combines recreation, tutoring, and enrichment activities. LEAD Hub is free for CVESD students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. LEAD Hub will be on the 180-day calendar. The hours will vary by school site and depend on the school’s start and end times.

*Before school programs are not offered at every school site.


El programa LEAD Hub de CVESD, en asociación con la YMCA del condado de San Diego, ofrece programas gratuitos antes y después de clases en todas las escuelas del distrito. LEAD Hub, anteriormente conocido como STRETCH y DASH, tiene como objetivo crear un entorno seguro y de apoyo donde los niños puedan aprender, crecer y prosperar. El programa combina recreación, tutoría y actividades de enriquecimiento. LEAD Hub es gratuito para los estudiantes de CVESD desde Kínder de transición hasta sexto grado. LEAD Hub estará en el calendario de 180 días. El horario variará según el plantel escolar y dependerá de los horarios de entrada y salida del plantel escolar.

Registration / Registro

All students will be added to the waitlist at the time of registration submission. Once applications have been reviewed, you will be notified by email if your student will remain on the waitlist or has been accepted into the program.

LEAD Clubs

LEAD Clubs are offered at all CVESD schools. They offer a variety of educational and enrichment offerings that vary by school site. Examples of LEAD Clubs may include academic support, robotics, music, sports, and more. Students participating in the LEAD Clubs learn new skills and interact with peers in a physically and emotionally safe environment. Operating days and hours will vary by school site.


Los clubes LEAD se ofrecen en todas las escuelas de CVESD. Ofrecen una variedad de ofertas educativas y de enriquecimiento que varían según el plantel escolar. Ejemplos de un Club pueden incluir apoyo académico, robótica, música, deportes y más. Q4 Math Club grades 4-6

math club is a fun and competitive activity where students can participate to develop intuitive thinking skills and learn new types of math. Students work on challenging problems and apply their previous knowledge from school. The club is supervised by a teacher and usually lasts for about an hour after the school day ends.

Playing board games stimulates brain parts that are responsible for memorization and complex thinking process for all ages. Participating in everyday essential cognitive skills including decision making, strategy thinking, and problem solving has benefits in both social and psychological aspects.

Our goal is to build confidence and instill a lifelong love for reading. The Reading Club for Grades 4-6 is designed to support students who need extra help in developing their reading skills. This after-school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program will provide students with the opportunity to engage in engineering design challenges centered around nutrition science, health science, and sports science. Q4 Advanced Knitting Club grades 3-6

Knitting is a wonderful hobby that will enable you to create clothing, blankets, home decor, and more, all from two long needles and a single, very long thread. It is quite amazing that just by knowing how to form two stitches, knit snitch, and purl stitch, you can create such a variety of things – anything from a delicate lace shawl to a chunky sweater to a lovely warm pair of socks!

Q4 Pickleball Club grades 4-6

Intro classes are a great way for brand-new players to learn the sport of Pickleball. Players receive 60 minutes of instruction plus 15 minutes of playing time. Players will learn all the basics to be able to play. Instructors will cover equipment, game lingo, scorekeeping, court positioning, and fundamentals.

That includes poses, sure, but also breathing and relaxing meditation. And that trifecta of physical movement, breathing and mindfulness can bring on physical and emotional benefits in adults and kids alike.
